Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Efficiency is often confused with operational cost. For example, electric resistance is always 100% efficient while LP or natural gas can only be as high as 98% efficient under perfect circumstances. Typical LP/NG fired boilers in a radiant floor system tend to run 92-95% efficient if properly piped and tuned.

Each unit of fuel has a given BTU output, and a given cost per unit.

Natural gas unit = Therm @ 100,000 BTU

Propane unit = Gallon @ 91,500 BTU

Electric unit = kWh @ 3412 BTU

Your local rates per unit will vary, but we can calculate the approximate annual usage via a heat loss calculation and get you an estimated cost comparison between available fuels.

This will depend on your location and the type of system in question. Glycol has some downfalls on the chemistry side of things and does require some maintenance, but is highly recommended in cold climates for protection of your asset under abnormal circumstances such as an extended power outage or system component failure. We can discuss this in detail and determine what is the best heat transfer fluid for your application.

As with most things, it depends. We don’t build “one size fits all” systems here, so each system is unique to your application and has a different cost. Feel free to fill out out “Request a Quote” form and we will contact you for details and pricing.

Each system is unique and will have a varying lead time. Some can be as soon as 1 week, some will take upward of 4 weeks. Lead time will be discussed in the final details when we quote your syetem.
